Wilmington was Chosen to Handle the Bait

Squid cargo discharged at the Port of Wilmington, Delaware

The Frio Las Palamas discharged 600 tons of frozen squid at the Port of Wilmington, Delaware on March 7th. The squid was imported from the Falkland Islands by Lund’s Fisheries Inc., and will be distributed to Canada and the entire U.S. East Coast. Lund’s Fisheries Inc. will market the frozen squid as bait product for fish including: swordfish, cod, and tuna.

Lund’s Fisheries Inc. a New Jersey based fishing company which is also a vessel operator, and seafood producer. The company owns and operates 20 fishing vessels for fish product imports and exports to Africa, Europe and Brazil. “We decided to call in Wilmington because of its strategic location in the U.S. East Coast, its good facilities and service”, said Mike Byrne of Lund’s Fishereid Inc.
