Oversized Brewery Tanks Offloaded at the Port of Wilmington, Delaware
for Victory Brewing Company
(Wilmington, Del.) –
Today,
the
Port of Wilmington,
Delaware
handled the discharge of 18 oversized brewery tanks with a total weight
of 268 tons for
Victory Brewing Company’s
new brewery in Parkesburg, Chester County, PA. Based in Downingtown, PA,
Victory Brewing Company is a premier craft brewery that offers more than
20 varieties of beers. Equipped with the new tanks, the Parkesburg
brewery will be capable of ten brewing operations per day, producing
200-barrels each. |
“We are
pleased to provide logistical support and facilitate the expansion of
Victory Brewing Company, a company that creates many regional jobs”,
said Gene Bailey, Diamond State Port Corp. executive director. “Our
broad project cargo handling expertise really comes into play with this
type of complex and delicate project cargo. Our operations team, the
deep sea ILA labor, and our terminal labor are experts in handling such
challenging project shipments.”
"As a company whose success has relied on the thirst of our local fans,
we strive to positively impact our regional economy with each decision
we face. Working with the Port of Wilmington was such an opportunity. We
appreciate the facilities and it's efficient, capable staff”, said
Brewmaster and President of Victory Brewing Company, Bill Covaleski.
The brewery tanks were fabricated in Germany and shipped from Rotterdam
onboard a modern open-hatch multi-purpose ship. Using the Port’s new 100
ton mobile harbor crane, the 59 and 46 foot long tanks were handled off
the vessel by Delaware River Stevedores and loaded directly onto heavy
duty, low-boy trailers capable of transporting not only the tanks’
extreme length, but also their 14 foot diameter.
In recent years, the Port of Wilmington, Delaware has been a
mid-Atlantic gateway for a myriad of oversized cargoes, including: wind
turbine blades, rocket booster cores, oversized generators, a dismantled
methanol plant and various out-of-gauge equipment.
Triple R. Transportation, the logistics coordinator tasked with
delivering the tanks to the Parkesburg brewery, selected Wilmington for
its strategic location, extensive project cargo handling expertise,
convenient multi-modal connectivity, and the State’s prompt and
efficient truck permitting and police escort services.
