DNREC Places an Oil Boom at the Mouth of 
the Christina River

Wilmington, DEDue to the recent oil spill on the Delaware River off of Paulsboro, NJ, Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has decided to place an oil containment boom across the mouth of the Christina River as a precautionary measure.  

Despite the placement of this boom, it is anticipated that cargo operations will continue unimpeded at the Port of Wilmington.

Ships entering or departing the Port of Wilmington will be required to notify the Port Harbor Master – Robert (Bobby) F. Senseny at 302-545-8591 a minimum of one hour prior to entering or leaving the Port to facilitate the timely movement of this boom.

 At this time, it is unknown how long the boom will be required. 

 Further updates will be provided as necessary.
