Steel via the Port of Wilmington will Reconstruct
New York’s World Trade Center Building 7

Wilmington, DEThis Monday, August 11, Helmark Steel, Inc. will receive 4,200 tons of structural steel at the Port of Wilmington, destined for reconstruction of World Trade Center Building #7. The cargo will arrive from Corus, UK on board the M/V Swan. From the Port of Wilmington, the structural steel will be trucked to Helmark Steel’s shop in Wilmington where it will be fabricated for this construction project in Lower Manhattan, New York.

Helmark Steel, established in 1968, specializes in fabrication of structural steel. The Wilmington based company has gained a nation-wide reputation for fabricating and erecting structural steel projects. Some of Helmark’s more high profile structures include the fabrication of steel and the erection of the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA and the erection of the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Aquatic Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Port of Wilmington handles shipments of various steel products including structural steel, coils, beams and plates. In fact, the Port was established in 1923 to better serve the demand for steel by the local shipbuilding, railcar, and carriage making industries.

“The Port of Wilmington was the most efficient and economical port of call for Helmark because of its close proximity to our shop. In addition, the Port staff was very helpful in bringing this shipment to Wilmington”, said William O’Brien, Vice President for Helmark Steel, Inc.
